German General: Russia and NATO at War in Two Years

A senior German military official has warned that Russia could attack NATO countries within the next two to three years and that Germany would be at the center of a potential conflict.
Lieutenant General Gerald Funke , Chief of Staff of the Bundeswehr's Joint Support Command, said that one of the main challenges in a war scenario would be the logistics and transportation of allied troops.
According to him, tens of thousands of NATO troops would have to move to the front lines, in conditions where roads and railway lines could be damaged by sabotage, cyberattacks or missiles.
"Germany must remain a logistics hub. If a route is blocked, we must have alternatives to guarantee supply," Funke declared.
Another serious problem, he said, would be the large number of wounded. Currently, the German army has five military hospitals with around 1,800 beds, which could quickly become overwhelmed in the event of war.
For this reason, German authorities have begun preparations to include civilian hospitals in the event of an emergency, dividing them into sectors that can be used for the wounded.
