Bardhi: Intimidation against the prosecution cannot save the government
The head of the Democratic Party parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted after SPAK's decision not to allow the holding of the meeting of the parliamentary committee known as "Xhafaj 2".
In a reaction on social media, Bardhi states that this decision constitutes a clear rejection of, according to him, the government's efforts to exert pressure on the Special Prosecution Office.
According to Bardhi, the government has undertaken a series of actions aimed at intimidating the justice system, citing the Constitutional Court's objection to the decision to suspend Belinda Balluku from office, as well as the delay in SPAK's request to lift her immunity and arrest her.
He emphasizes that the attempt to carry out "monitoring visits" by deputies to SPAK has been assessed by this institution as contrary to the law and as a violation of its constitutional independence.
"Efforts to intimidate SPAK are futile. No one can avoid responsibility before the law," Bardhi writes in his reaction.
For its part, SPAK has clarified that the meeting planned by the parliamentary committee constituted an overstepping of legal powers and violated the independence of the Special Prosecution Office.
