According to the Italian news agency, ANSA, which is based on the Italian state television, RAI, from almost a third of the polling stations counted, 54.42 percent of voters voted "No" and 45.58 percent voted "Yes."

These results are based on the counting of votes from more than 17,000 of the 61,533 polling stations.

A defeat in the referendum would be a major blow to Meloni, who has led an unusually stable coalition government since October 2022.
