Will he run for mayor of Shkodra again? Here's how Spahia responds

Invited to the show "Off the Record" on A2 CNN, Democratic Party MP Bardh Spahia was asked if he would leave his mandate to run again for mayor of Shkodra.

Spahia did not give a definitive answer, but said that he currently considers representation in Parliament important, while adding that the Democratic Party has sufficient figures to run at both the local and central levels.

" I have provided evidence that even in the case of 2023, when the CEC's request to accept the mandate of MP was on my desk, I made the choice not in my own interest, but in what I believed was the best interest of the Democrats of Shkodra."

I have never shied away from challenges of any political nature, but I also consider the current role and representation of that electorate in the Albanian Parliament to be very important.

I believe that the Democratic Party does not suffer at all from a lack of worthy figures, both at the central and local levels, and it will not be a problem for Shkodra who its candidate will be.

We have a problem in Shkodra: guaranteeing free and fair elections. This is an extremely difficult struggle. If we fail to separate the state from electoral crime and sever ties with organized crime, as well as the use of state institutions and assets in elections, everything becomes difficult.

Regarding your question, given that I had a short time at the head of the Municipality of Shkodra, which can be considered a half-mission, of course, if I am to be trusted, this is an issue that remains to be assessed.

"I don't believe there is a person who deals with politics and avoids strong challenges. The electoral race, even at the local level, is among the strongest political challenges ," said Spahia.
