"Time for new leadership" - Trump reiterates call for Khamenei's regime change: Iran, the worst place in the world to live!

US President Donald Trump called for a change of leadership in Iran on Saturday (January 17), demanding an end to the 37-year rule of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
"It's time to seek new leadership in Iran," the US president told Politico, as mass protests calling for the regime's overthrow appeared to have subsided.
On Tuesday, Trump had called on Iranians to continue their protests and “occupy the institutions,” saying that “help is on the way.” However, he suddenly changed course the next day, saying he had been informed that the killings of protesters had stopped.
"The best decision he ever made was not to hang over 800 people two days ago," Trump said on Saturday, when asked about the possibility and scope of a US military operation in Iran.
The comments came shortly after Ali Khamenei posted a series of inflammatory messages on his X platform account, accusing the US president of being responsible for the violence and loss of life in Iran.
“We hold the US President guilty for the losses, destruction and slander he has caused to the Iranian nation,” Khamenei wrote. In another post, he claimed that Trump had portrayed violent groups as representatives of the Iranian people, calling the claim “a disgusting slander.”
After being informed of the posts, Trump responded that Tehran's leadership relies on oppression and violence to stay in power.
“What he is guilty of, as the leader of a country, is the complete destruction of the country and the use of violence on levels we have never seen before,” he said. “For the state to continue to function — even at this low level — the leadership should focus on properly governing the country, as I do in the United States, and not on killing thousands of people to maintain control.”
"Leadership is based on respect, not fear and death," he added.
Recently, Trump also launched a personal attack on Iran's supreme leader and the country's system of governance.
"This is a sick man who needs to run his country properly and stop killing people," he said. "His country is the worst place to live in the world, because of bad leadership."
