Macron demands reopening of the Strait of Hormuz: We are victims of geopolitics!

French President Emmanuel Macron has reiterated his call for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important shipping lanes, which he said has been paralyzed for weeks due to tensions in the Middle East and the conflict in Iran.

During a joint press conference in Athens, alongside Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Macron warned that geopolitical uncertainty is creating a risk of shortages and instability in international markets.

“We are all in the same boat, and it is not a boat that we chose ourselves. We are victims of geopolitics and of this war that started a few months ago,” the French president said. Macron stressed that the current situation affects all countries equally, making them dependent on developments in a strategic area that directly affects global energy supplies.

Meanwhile, according to international statements, more than a dozen countries have expressed their willingness to join a naval mission led by France and the United Kingdom, aimed at protecting merchant ships in the area, as soon as conditions permit.
