Amid peace talks, Iran threatens US with military response over naval blockade

Tensions between Iran and the United States have increased significantly, after the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian forces warned of a military response if the US naval blockade of Iranian ports continues.
In a statement broadcast on Iranian state television, Tehran's military authorities condemned the US actions as "acts of robbery and piracy" in the region. "If the US military forces continue the blockade and these acts, they should know that they are exposed to a response from the powerful Iranian armed forces," the statement said.
Iranian officials also stressed that they are on full alert and are closely monitoring every move of their opponents.
Meanwhile, in Islamabad, a Pakistani source announced that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during an official visit, conveyed Tehran's negotiating positions to local authorities.
According to the same source, Araghchi has expressed strong reservations regarding the US demands in the context of recent developments, signaling a tense climate also on the diplomatic front. The situation remains fragile, while the international community is following with concern the escalation of rhetoric between the two countries.
