Terrorist attack on a NATO base in Norway is prevented.
Norwegian police announced they have arrested a 17-year-old teenager on suspicion of planning an explosives attack on NATO facilities in the southwest of the country, state broadcaster NRK reported on Monday.
Born and raised in Norway, the suspect was seen at his school with an Islamic State flag, NRK said.
The 17-year-old was remanded in custody for two weeks on Monday. He denies the charges against him, his lawyer Knut Lerum told AFP.
He was arrested yesterday by the Norwegian Internal Security Service (PST), which is responsible for combating terrorism.
According to NRK, citing PST documents, the teenager had planned an explosives attack on NATO's Joint Warfare Center (JWC) in Jäten, Stavanger, in southwestern Norway.
When contacted by AFP, internal security services were not available for comment.
