'Well-organized violence against students'/ Civil society shows solidarity: Raise your voice, you are not alone!

A group of intellectuals and civil society representatives have called on students not to stop their action, and to raise their voices against the government, in a sign of solidarity with them.

In a statement to the media from the Ministry of Education, they stated that students will not be alone in facing police retaliation and violence, adding that there is already a report in SPAK against the command structure for organized violence against students.

They also commented on Prime Minister Edi Rama's initiative for the package of legal measures for protests, warning of its legal opposition.

'We have not stopped our action just at words. But we have a message for Albanian youth, strong solidarity to continue to raise their voices that they are not alone. A group of lawyers have filed a complaint with SPAK for a full investigation into the command structure for organized violence against students. It is their right to protest.

The right to freedom and peaceful assembly should not be stopped in this country. The package is in the continuation of the efforts to impose silence and stifle the protest of the protestor. It has nothing to do with democratic rules and we will challenge it legally.

The report was filed on Friday, but we are hopeful that SPAK will accelerate the investigation and implement a full investigation. Well-structured repression, 180 cases of flagrant violation of the law, but we are convinced that there are more than that. Here we are dealing with a scheme, an initiative was taken against this report. I expect there to be security measures for police officers who visibly accompany violence on the streets ,' the group of intellectuals and civil society expressed in their statement to the MAS.
