Two SP MPs oppose Rama, vote 'no' to the merger of 15 municipalities

Two Socialist Party MPs, Erion Braçe and Vullnet Sinaj, have come out against the proposal for the new territorial reform with 46 municipalities.

At the meeting of the Socialist parliamentary group earlier this week, the two MPs expressed reservations about the proposal to merge 15 municipalities.

At the end of the meeting of the socialist parliamentary group, the draft for the new territorial map was put to a vote, while Braçe and Sinaj voted against.

"It makes me want to vote against," Erion Braçe is reported to have said, among other things, during the meeting.

The Socialist Party's proposal foresees reducing the number of municipalities from 61 to 46, through the merger of 15 municipalities.

84 votes are needed to approve the territorial reform in the Assembly.

If the position of the two Socialist MPs does not change, this could affect the number of votes needed to approve the new territorial division.
