US Commerce Secretary's ties to Epstein exposed, former British banker found dead

Former British banker Simon Andriesz, who acted as a whistleblower in the Jeffrey Epstein case and exposed alleged ties between US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and the convicted sex offender, has been found dead. The 57-year-old is believed to have committed suicide, according to reports. Andriesz's death was confirmed by Andy Agathangelou, founder of the Transparency Task Force, which had previously worked with the former banker to protect whistleblowers.
“It is with great sadness that we announce that Simon Andriesz, a valued member of our community, passed away last week,” Agathangelou said. Andriesz had worked for more than 35 years in financial markets and was a director at the Wall Street financial firm BGC Group, where Lutnick served as CEO.
Lutnick and Epstein revelations
Andriesz told the BBC that he had found evidence that, in his opinion, Lutnick had not fully disclosed a business relationship with Epstein. He claimed to have uncovered a series of emails from 2018 in which Lutnick and Epstein discussed the possibility of a new business venture in which they were both involved.
The case was covered by the BBC’s investigative show “File on 4 Investigates,” in an episode aired in July titled “The Epstein Files: Lutnick, the Royal Family and the British Whistleblower.” In February, Lutnick confirmed that he had visited Epstein’s island in 2012, contradicting previous statements that he had severed ties with the financier several years earlier. He testified before the Senate Budget Committee that he had lunched on the island during a family vacation.
Lutnick has denied any involvement in Epstein's criminal activities and said he "unequivocally" condemns the actions attributed to the convicted sex offender and all those who participated in his illegal activities. After the BBC broadcast, Andriesz attended a Transparency Task Force event, where he spoke out about what he described as the mistreatment of whistleblowers by British regulators.
During the event, he also spoke about the personal consequences that, according to him, the decision to go public with the information had had, citing the impact on his career, health and family. The 57-year-old's death comes at a time when the Epstein case and his relationships with prominent political and financial figures continue to be the subject of debate and investigation.
