Crackdown on drug dealers in Saranda,

After several years on the police radar, 49-year-old Altin Arapi, also known as Altin Demiri and with the nickname "Boraqi", has been arrested as one of the suspects for distributing cocaine in Saranda.

No individuals considered to be direct associates of Arap were arrested in Operation "Autumn." However, sources indicate that his name has been on the radar for years as part of investigations, along with other individuals involved in drug distribution.

According to sources, tracking Arap has been difficult for police structures. In some cases, it was suspected that he managed to obtain information about police actions and avoid checks or operations planned against him.

One of the cases considered unsuccessful is that of January 20, 2022. The police intervened on suspicion that Arapi was in possession of narcotics, but during the search the requested drugs were not found. In the end, he was arrested for resisting the police officers, as during the attempted search he had resisted and had also damaged his cell phone.

Altin Arapi's name was also mentioned in another serious episode that occurred in May 2025. A 15-year-old girl presented herself at the Saranda Hospital in an intoxicated state, after it was suspected that she had consumed about 5 grams of cocaine. As part of the verifications for this event, Arapi was also one of the people questioned.

His only arrest for drug possession, according to publicly available data, dates back about eight years. At that time, he was caught in Tirana along with two other people from Saranda, and a quantity of cocaine was found on him. For this episode, he spent several months in prison.

Another case where his name came to the attention of the Police was in January 2021. An immediate escort of a person was carried out in Delvina, after the police structures had received information that there might be a conflict with Altin Arapi. The intervention was made as a preventive measure to avoid escalating the situation.
