The wrestling world is shocked, a well-known wrestler suddenly passes away after collapsing during a match

The wrestling world has been shocked by the death of Andy Williams, known to fans as "The Butcher."

The former AEW wrestler passed away at the age of 48 after collapsing after a match at a wrestling event in Pennsylvania.

Williams was attending the Enjoy Wrestling event, part of the company's fifth annual show, at the Mr. Smalls Theater in Millvale, near Pittsburgh.

He was part of a tag team title match, competing alongside his longtime partner, Jesse Guilmette, known as The Blade.

According to witnesses, towards the end of the fight, Williams began to have problems and collapsed in the ring. His partner tried to help him, and the intervention of the medical staff was soon requested.

Medical staff present in the room immediately intervened. Williams received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and a defibrillator was used before he was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

After the incident, the rest of the event was canceled and spectators left the hall.

According to the co-owner of Enjoy Wrestling, Williams' symptoms were consistent with a cardiac event, but the official cause of death was not immediately made public.

Williams was taken to the hospital, where he died later that evening.

A unique career between wrestling and music

Andy Williams was known to the wrestling public as The Butcher, one of the members of the team "The Butcher and The Blade".

He joined All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2019 and remained with the company until his contract expired in June of this year. After leaving, he returned to the independent wrestling scene.

But Williams had also built a significant career outside the ring.

He was one of the founding members and guitarist of the metal band Every Time I Die, with whom he performed from 1998 until the band's breakup in 2022. He then continued his musical activity with the project Atomic Rule.
