Mati surrounded by fires, critical situation in Lundre e Madhesh

The situation regarding the fires in Mat remains critical. The fire that has engulfed the villages of Ulza is expanding.

The rugged mountainous terrain, strong winds and drought have favored the spread of the flames over a considerable area, burning homes, farms and putting others at risk. Currently, the most problematic situation is in the villages of Lundre and Madhesh, where the flames are endangering homes, while the operation on land has been ongoing for more than a week.

The fire has spread east-west and has now spread to the protected park of Shkopet. Local authorities, supported by the armed forces, continue to fight the flames, but containment seems difficult without air intervention.

Another fire threatens the Balgjaj mountain. The flames that started on the Selishta side in Dibër have approached the Balgjaj ridge, putting another forest economy in the Mat district at risk. In Bulqiza, the fire that broke out days ago on the mountain in the village of Vajkal continues to be active and is headed towards the village of Shëngjun in the Municipality of Klos.
