The Depersonalization of Albanian Youth: Product of a Rotten Political-Economic System

The sad reality of Albanian youth was most clearly manifested at the FRESH National Assembly. And where else could the true face of a deformed society be revealed than among the youth, as the most sincere and least self-controlled stratum?
From speeches filled with absurd pathos to meaningless comparisons with the Sun of the socialist galaxy, this activity was nothing more than a reflection of the deep intellectual and moral crisis that has gripped an entire generation. Public opinion was scandalized by the low intellectual level, the extreme servility, and the total lack of critical thinking.
But the problem is not simply with the individuals who took the floor in that hall – they are only symptoms of a much larger disease: a political-economic system that for 35 years has suppressed any possibility of free development, producing a youth without ambition, without personality, and forced to bow to power in order to survive.
The Destruction of Academic Freedom and Intellectual Formation
The roots of this degradation begin in the educational system. Albanian universities are no longer centers of free thought and intellectual debate, but have turned into factories of worthless diplomats, run by politically appointed individuals. Where professors are there as instruments of power, it is natural that students have no motivation to develop critical thinking.
A World Bank report (2023) showed that the academic and professional skills of Albanian youth are among the lowest in the region, while a PISA report (2022) confirmed that Albanians have a drastic decline in reading, mathematics and science. This is not simply a lack of investment in education, but a deliberate strategy to produce a population that is easy to manipulate.
A disempowered youth is a dependent youth – and a dependent youth is a youth that does not demand accountability. Instead of being the driving force of society, it becomes a passive mass, subservient to power and ready to embrace any political doctrine that offers it a job or a minimum wage.
The Collapse of Economic Opportunity: Slavery to Power and Oligarchs
In a country where the largest businesses are controlled by a handful of government-connected oligarchs and where every economic sector is monopolized, the opportunity to build an honest and independent career is almost zero.
Të dhënat flasin vetë:
• Mbi 70% e të rinjve shqiptarë duan të largohen nga vendi për shkak të mungesës së perspektivës ekonomike (raporti i Friedrich Ebert, 2023).
• Papunësia e të rinjve është mbi 25% (INSTAT, 2023), një nga më të lartat në rajon.
• Administrata shtetërore është e mbushur me militantë partie, ku punësimi bëhet me “patronazhistë” dhe jo mbi bazën e meritës.
Në këtë realitet, të rinjtë përballen me dy zgjedhje:
1. Të bëhen pjesë e sistemit – të servilosen, të puthin duart e pushtetarëve dhe oligarkëve për të siguruar një vend pune.
2. Të largohen nga Shqipëria – duke kërkuar një jetë më të mirë jashtë, ashtu siç kanë bërë mbi 500,000 shqiptarë në dekadën e fundit.
Të dyja këto zgjedhje janë një humbje për vendin. Ata që mbeten, pranojnë të jenë skllevër të pushtetit, ndërsa ata që largohen e lënë Shqipërinë të braktisur dhe të drejtuar nga e njëjta elitë politike që e ka rrënuar prej dekadash.
Politika dhe Kontrolli mbi Rininë: Një Sistem i Qëllimshëm
Kjo situatë nuk është një aksident historik – është një model i ndërtuar me kujdes nga elitat politike që kontrollojnë Shqipërinë që prej rënies së komunizmit. Nëse gjatë diktaturës së Enver Hoxhës rinia përdorej si instrument propagande për partinë-shtet, sot ajo përdoret si vegël për të ruajtur status quo-në e një oligarkie të paprekshme.
Pushteti ka ndërtuar një sistem që i mban të rinjtë të varur ekonomikisht dhe të pazhvilluar intelektualisht, duke siguruar që nuk do të ketë një brez të ri që ta sfidojë seriozisht. Në vend të një rinie aktive, me mendim kritik dhe dëshirë për ndryshim, kemi një brez të dekurajuar, të frikësuar dhe të gatshëm të pranojë çdo kompromis për një vend pune.
Për të ruajtur këtë ekuilibër të sëmurë, qeveria ka:
• Mbytur liritë akademike, duke shkatërruar universitetet dhe kontrolluar pedagogët.
• Shtypur sipërmarrjen e lirë, duke i dhënë oligarkëve monopolin mbi çdo sektor ekonomik.
• Kultivuar nepotizmin dhe korrupsionin, duke e bërë të pamundur për një të ri të suksesshëm të ngjitet pa mbështetje politike.
Kjo ka prodhuar një rini të depersonalizuar, të nënshtruar dhe pa identitet.
Përfundim: Një Rini pa Identitet, një Komb pa të Ardhme
Rinia është pasqyra e një kombi. Kur të rinjtë nuk kanë formim intelektual, nuk kanë ambicie dhe nuk kanë liri ekonomike, atëherë ky komb është i destinuar të mbetet i prapambetur.
Nëse Shqipëria vazhdon me këtë ritëm, atëherë në pak dekada do të kemi një vend bosh, të drejtuar nga një grusht njerëzish, ndërsa rinia ose do të jetë shërbëtore e pushtetit, ose do të ketë emigruar në kërkim të një jete më të mirë.
E vërteta është se të rinjtë e PS nuk janë ndryshe nga të rinjtë e PD të Sali Berishës– të dy palët e kanë ndërtuar kultin e liderit, duke u përkulur para një njeriu që u ofron pushtet.
The youth of the SP venerate Edi Rama, Balluk, Gjiknuri, Elisa or Taulant Balla, while on the other hand the youth of the DP (Berisha) blindly worship the mummified Sali Berisha, Flamur Noka, Albana Vokshi, Gjin Gjon and Jozefina Topalli.
It is a systemic disease that has killed this nation!
But in this place, as in every darkest night, there are stars that shed a little light.
There are people who struggle in the oligopoly market, with the strength to survive and have some success, there are people who have a deep intellectual formation, have courageous critical thinking... and above all, they have character!
They are not only immune to the pressure of the habitat they live in, but they are also the antidote to this habitat.
The responsibility is now theirs, either they fight together against the darkness of the majority... or like stars they burn out one by one!
