The facts are clear: Rama commissioned McGonigal to open a case against Lulzim Basha in the US, while Berisha borrowed this fabricated file from Rama to usurp the Democratic Party.
This is a typical example of the old political game in Albania, where the two most corrupt figures of the transition bribe foreign officials to crack down on anyone who challenges their power.
Rama paid for a political scenario aimed at eliminating Basha from the international scene, while Berisha, thirsty for power and revenge, used this scandal as an alibi to hijack the DP and turn it into a personal bunker.
There are no heroes in this story. There are only bargains and manipulations that keep Albania trapped in a vicious circle of corruption and state capture.
Today, more than ever, citizens must open their eyes and reject this old political theater, where Rama and Berisha play as opponents in public, but collaborate behind the scenes to eliminate any new alternative.
It is time for a European policy, clean and honest, away from this corrupt cycle that is holding the country hostage to personal and occult interests.
