Call Center Fraud/ After Greta Gjoci, GJKKO postpones sentence for Antoneta Malo

Malo is requesting not to immediately begin serving his sentence, arguing that he has two minor children, a 3-year-old girl and a 1-year-old and 3-month-old boy, who was born prematurely and, according to the documentation presented, needs constant care.

Her request was accepted by the GJKKO.

Malo was sentenced by the Special Court of First Instance to 10 years in prison for computer fraud committed in collaboration, in the form of a structured criminal group, as well as 2 years in prison for the criminal offense of a structured criminal group.

After the sentences were combined and reduced by one third, she was ultimately sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison. The decision was upheld on October 5, 2026 by the Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime.

In the request to the court, the convicted woman and her defense attorney, attorney Sokol Tahiraj, requested a postponement of the execution of the sentence, referring to Article 476 of the Criminal Procedure Code. According to the defense, serving the sentence immediately could have serious consequences for the two minor children, especially the son, due to his age and health condition.

The defense also requests a stay of execution of the decision pending the review of the request, arguing that separating the children from their mother during this period could have serious consequences for them.

The case comes a day after Greta Gjoci was released for a year, bringing back into focus the issues of people convicted in call center fraud cases and requests for relief from sentence execution for family reasons.
