Dine Abazi, former president of the Order of Doctors of Albania, passes away

A great loss has come to the white shirts and Albanian medicine. Professor and doctor Dine Abazi has passed away at the age of 88, leaving behind a long life dedicated to medicine, healthcare and people.
His loss also marks the end of a long journey in the healthcare system, where for years he became one of the most recognized figures in the Albanian medical community. For decades, Avazi was part of the healthcare system, holding leadership and representative roles in medical institutions.
He served two terms as head of the Order of Doctors of Albania, a position he completed in 2015. During his leadership, Abazi was involved in a series of debates and issues that linked the medical profession to the functioning of the healthcare system, taking public positions on topics such as the testing and evaluation of white shirts.
Also, during the 1970s and 1980s, he was part of the medical staff serving the Albanian communist leadership. During that period, he also worked with former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who at the time was a doctor and part of the medical team.
In addition to his commitment to health, Abazi also had experience in representing Albania internationally. United Nations documents document him as an advisor to the Albanian delegation at an international conference.
This Tuesday's news of this loss has left the Albanian medical community in pain, who lost one of the professionals who dedicated a significant part of his life to service in the field of medicine.
