"You want to remove Rama so that Berisha can come to power?!"/

Ermal Hasimja, during a statement for the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, explained his initiative to unite the opposition.

Asked by Ylli Rakipi if the goal of this initiative is to bring Berisha to power, Hasimja said that they are not seeking to make Berisha prime minister, but to ensure free and fair elections.

Ylli Rakipi : You have undertaken an initiative, almost like a mission, to unite the opposition forces. What is your goal and what have you achieved so far?

Ermal Hasimja : We have found that the various opposition parties have some common objectives. Without pretending to be too far-fetched, we are trying to coordinate them, to reconcile them to achieve these common objectives, which are in the general interest. It is not about joining Berisha, but it is about cooperation. It is not about making Berisha prime minister. It has nothing to do with this. The elections are in three and a half years. The goal is for these parties to cooperate and achieve the objectives that they have and that they declare. First, they play a role in obtaining guarantees for free and fair elections. We have found the level of the elections, including the OSCE-ODIHR. We are looking for an Electoral Code acceptable to all parties. We have support for the justice system for a justice that strikes at organized crime and corruption. These are the goals, it has not been mentioned who will be prime minister, a matter of coalitions or I don't know what. These are objectives that you find in the discourse of each of the parties.

Ylli Rakipi : Regardless of the goal and idea, both good, the goal of this union is rotation, right?

Ermal Hasimja : Cooperation.

Ylli Rakipi: The rotation, meaning Rama's departure and Berisha's coming to power, which says I'm on a mission.

Ermal Hasimja : Adriatik Lapaj also has this mission. All parties have it.

Ylli Rakipi: Berisha will get the votes now to be at the head of the DP for another 4 years. You are inviting the small or opposition parties to have Berisha at the head.

Ermal Hasimja : No, it's not true.

Ylli Rakipi: Have you talked to Berisha?

Ermal Hasimja : What about Berisha and the others. At no point was there any discussion about who would become prime minister, because it has nothing to do with this. The only thing that matters now is to have free and fair elections, to have a government that guarantees these, a transitional government, a technical government, call it whatever you want, and to have an Electoral Code that enables the fair representation of Albanians. We are not discussing who will become prime minister, but whether or not there will be fair representation of Albanians, or elections like the ones we had.

Ylli Rakipi : Now I'm asking the questions, because I had someone here who was talking to me last time about organized crime and who himself was non grata in Britain.

Andi Tela: You say we are talking about free and fair elections, but you are not talking to the person who is in charge of this, this seems like a utopian initiative. Then it is known that the divergence between the parties is the fact that the small parties do not want to be led by Berisha in this. You say we will now make a deal with the party leaders. And the other, the main opposition party, the Democratic Party, goes to a rally and protests for a transitional government, you say about something that should happen three and a half years later.

Ermal Hasimja : We are not talking about who will become prime minister.

Andi Tela: The emergency should be to gather the opposition as a bloc and hold elections.
