Defeat to Udinese, Roma loses fourth place in the standings

Udinese secured back-to-back Serie A wins for the first time since September as Jurgen Ekelenkamp's deflected free kick proved decisive in a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over fifth-placed Roma.

Roma managed to put the ball in the net in the final minutes through Bryan Kristante, but the midfielder's goal was immediately disallowed for offside, while the Bianconeri held on until the end to secure three valuable points, ending a run of six consecutive defeats in head-to-head matches.

For Roma this was the eighth defeat in 23 weeks of the championship, while for Udinese it was the ninth triumph. In the next challenge the capital will host Cagliari. Gasperini's team has lost fourth place, being overtaken by Juventus.
