Salianji tells Berisha the truth and challenges him: The protests were those of the DP in 2019!
Former Democratic Party MP, Ervin Salianji , spoke to Report TV while attending the protest organized by the Democratic Party in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
Salianji told journalist Danjela Maloku that he has participated and will participate in every protest that the DP organizes against the government, and added that no one can condition him on this.
"A civic reaction is needed for the massive government corruption. The Balluk case and the AKSHI case are two major scandals. I am here as in every protest since 2013, except for the period when I was in prison, from where I reacted through public letters, to react against misgovernment. It is not a surprise, I am at the service of the democrats",
"Are you protesting only against Rama or also to send a message to Berisha that no one in the DP can expel you?", asked Report TV journalist Danjela Maloku.
"Not only have I not excluded myself from the DP, but I have become more involved. Everything I have said stands. The DP has had a kind of change since the moment this kind of movement started. Today the DP is in protest, it started the protests after I started the movement. It has started the analysis and meetings with citizens. The effect has been felt and I have done a great service to the DP and the citizens," continued Salianji.
Regarding a DP instruction for membership renewal, which provides for the expulsion from the party of those who have worked against the interests of this political force, Salianji said that it was a meaningless decision.
Salianji added that this instruction clearly showed that there are those in the DP who aim to expel the democrats from the party and not to overthrow Prime Minister Edi Rama.
While 'stabbling' Berisha, he continued by saying that in a democracy, membership excludes leadership from the party, and not leadership excludes membership.
"Since you mentioned your own analysis, there is a DP instruction to refresh membership and it clearly states that all those who have worked against the interests of the DP should be excluded from membership. Do you think that those who have joined your movement will be excluded from the DP?", asked the Report TV journalist.
"Up until now, I have not reacted since the instruction was issued to respect this protest. From tomorrow there will be a clear reaction on that issue, but it clearly seems that some have an interest in excluding the Democrats, while I have an interest in excluding Edi Rama. In a democracy, membership excludes the leadership and the leaders they like or dislike, and not the opposite, for the leadership to exclude the membership," continued Salianji.
Regarding today's protest and the form of protests that the DP is organizing, Salianji said that the Democratic Party seems to be taking an example from the protests that were organized in 2019, when he was Secretary for Civic Action in the DP. According to Salianji, the opposition protests today should be with the same strength, intensity and revolt.
"What do you think of today's DP protest? Do you have a comment on the way it was organized?", asked the Report TV journalist.
"Look at the protests that, as Secretary for Civic Action, took place in 2019. I say that we should protest with that intensity, with that strength, and with that revolt," concluded Salianji.
