SPAK has new evidence emerging from inspections conducted at the end of December and the first days of January 2026.
News24 journalist Klodiana Lala said that searches were carried out at the homes of several businessmen linked to the case of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.
Lala said that one of them is Arbër Abazi, who is also related by family ties to Balluk because he lives with her cousin.
"According to prosecutors, additional evidence has been found, in addition to 60 thousand pages. So they will present new evidence, from the moment the request was made until the hearing. How the decision will affect the SPAK's position remains to be seen," said Lala.
Klodiana Lala: The Constitutional Court, next Wednesday they leave for an activity in Strasbourg, if they don't take it on Monday and Tuesday, the decision is expected after the meeting of the Council of Mandates and Immunities.
The decision is awaited with interest, this decision will take the form of law, and the measure of force will be seen. Will the judges be independent of politics and it remains to be seen whether SPAK will withdraw from the request for Balluk's arrest.
During the last days of December and the first days of January, there were a series of checks on various businessmen, including Arbër Abazi, who is also related by family ties to Balluk, as he lives with her cousin. According to prosecutors, additional evidence was found, in addition to 60 thousand pages. So they will present new evidence, from the moment the request was made until the hearing.
How the decision will affect SPAK's stance remains to be seen.
If Balluku resigns, which I think he should do, the decision of the CC will in any case be his resignation and will be used as a precedent. For the claims for arrest, the Mandates Council must give the green light, go to the Assembly and after approving the authorization, SPAK must go to the court and convince it that an arrest measure is needed. The issue is from the moment the suspension is lifted and he is returned to duty, until the moment there is a new measure, who gives us guarantees where our taxes have gone, what has happened during this time, have the prosecutors managed to investigate Ms. Balluku's activities, how is she administering it?
SPAK has exhausted all its legal options, the arrest was the last resort. If the CC overturns the decision, SPAK will see how it will proceed with the Mandates Council, if it leaves the suspension in force, it remains to be seen what SPAK's stance will be.
