"We are not protesting like in Tehran" - Dash Shehi: We are waiting

The head of the LZHK, Dashamir Shehi, has expressed strong criticism of the way the opposition is organizing protests against the government, emphasizing that they no longer have the necessary political weight and effect. Invited to the show “Off the Record” with Andrea Dangli, Shehi stated that the current protests fail to mobilize citizens and do not produce real change.

"We are not protesting like in Tehran. These are not massive civic protests, but militant rallies that are getting tired week after week," declared Shehi. He stressed that the limited participation shows the lack of a strong political message and inspiring figures. According to him, Sali Berisha is no longer able to inspire the majority of Albanians to take to the streets.

Shehi said that the opposition should stop the repeated rhetoric and build a clear, 360-degree political project with concrete objectives. "It is not enough to demand the removal of Edi Rama or a caretaker government, when these are not realistically achievable. The opposition should focus on things that are in its hands: electoral reform, administrative reform, revision of the Constitution," he said.

The head of the LZHK underlined that today the main hope of citizens is in justice, adding that the opposition should support SPAK and the justice institutions, instead of attacking them when they do not like the decisions. "Only justice can restore trust and inspire citizens," said Shehi.
