Number of Albanians residing in Iran revealed, diplomatic sources: They have not asked for help to leave

On the sixth day of the conflict between the US, Israel and Iran, concern is growing for foreign citizens in the Islamic republic under attack.
The same concern is present for Albanian citizens living and working in Iran.
Diplomatic sources contacted by Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu have, for the first time, revealed the number of Albanians currently within Iranian territory.
From the data so far, six Albanians residing in Iran have been identified, two of whom are women married to Iranian citizens.
All of them indicated the same sources have not yet contacted Albanian authorities for help in leaving, and more specifically with our Embassy in Ankara, which also serves Iran after Albania severed diplomatic relations with this country in September 2022.
The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday, advised all Albanian citizens who are currently residents or visitors in Iran and plan to travel from Iran to Albania via Turkey via land border points (Iran-Turkey), to immediately contact the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Ankara.
Top Channel has learned that a few days after the US attack on Iran in June 2025, Albanian authorities were involved in a repatriation operation of an Albanian family from Iran.
It concerns the family of an Albanian employed in the Albanian language section of the Iranian radio, who had been living in Iran since 1995.
He, his wife, and three children traveled from Iran to Turkey and then arrived in Albania./ Top Channel
