Begaj 'Resurrects'! Calls on the leaders of institutions after his arrest at SHISH

President Bajram Begaj received at the Presidency the Minister of Interior Ervin Demo, the Head of the State Police Skënder Hita and the acting director of SHISH, Elvis Lila. The meeting takes place following the house arrest of Vlora Hyseni and her dismissal from the service's leadership, at a moment when developments have opened a debate on national security.

President Bajram Begaj held a meeting with the main leaders of law and order and security institutions, at one of the most controversial moments for the functioning of security structures in the country.

At the Presidency, Begaj received the Minister of Interior Ervin Demo, the Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, and the acting director of SHISH, Elvis Lila. According to the official announcement, the president was informed and discussed with them current issues.

The meeting comes after developments in the SPAK investigation into former SHISH director Vlora Hyseni, who has been placed under house arrest. Hyseni is under investigation on charges of revealing classified information and aiding the perpetrator of a crime, according to reports published after the court ruling.

Following these developments, Hyseni was removed from the position of head of the State Intelligence Service. President Begaj decreed her dismissal from office on September 22, upon the proposal of the Prime Minister. The decree entered into force immediately.

In its place, the administrative powers of the management of SHISH have been temporarily delegated to Elvis Lila, who now holds the position of acting director of the service.

The presence at the same meeting of the Minister of Interior, the Police Chief, and the acting head of SHISH comes at a time when the investigation against Hysen has brought discussions about national security and the functioning of institutions responsible for order and information.

However, the Presidency has not released any further details on the content of the discussions, contenting itself with the announcement that the president was informed and discussed current issues.

Begaj's meeting takes place as security institutions face a new period following the change in the leadership of SHISH and the continuation of investigations by SPAK.
