"This period of my professional life is over and it didn't go the way we wanted. Training with Real Madrid has been a challenge and a responsibility for me, every day.

"I thank the club, the players and above all the Madrid fans for their trust and support - I leave with respect and pride for having given everything to the club," Alonso wrote.
