Manchester City crisis, Guardiola: You are wrong, I am enjoying the fight for fourth place

Pep Guardiola says he is relishing the challenge of reaching the Champions League next season. The Manchester City manager has identified this weekend's opponents Brighton, as well as Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Fulham, as rivals in the race to enter Europe's elite competition in the 2025-26 season. And the Catalan told a press conference on Friday that he would see qualification as a great success with the way City have played this season. With the Seagulls in contention for the Champions League spot, he told the media: "Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Newcastle, maybe Fulham will be there too. They are fantastic teams, so it's no surprise. I think they deserve to be there, they are really strong and consistent and they have incredible weapons in the way they play. It's a big fight and not a disappointment to be here, it's a challenge in that if we're able to achieve this and qualify for the Champions League, it would be a great success from my point of view. For a lot of things that have happened, it would be a great success. I don't think 'oh we're playing for this', it's the complete opposite.
"It's in our hands, it's up to us. We don't have to recover eight or ten points to go there and expect the opponent to lose a lot of games. It's up to us and it depends on our attitude and our football whether we're going to be there or not. We have to reach the best level to qualify for Europe next season. We know we have 10 games left, six at home and four away and at home we have difficult games like Brighton, Aston Villa, Bournemouth. Most of the games are really difficult."
