'He was beaten twice by the police, he couldn't stand', details

Jens Lehmann, former famous German goalkeeper and former Arsenal player, was arrested in September 2024 for drunk driving after Oktoberfest celebrations.

However, the German newspaper 'Bild' has revealed new details about the case, almost seven months later.

According to sources, the former footballer was forced to stop and get out of the car, but he couldn't even stand without holding onto his vehicle, ending up vomiting twice in front of the police.

For this reason, Lehmann failed the breathalyzer test, as he "couldn't breathe anymore," and ended up being sent to the police station and then to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Munich for blood tests.

"Lehmann was subjected to a police check on September 23, 2024, at around 01:30, due to his unusual behavior while driving in central Munich.

"The police noticed a strong odor of alcohol and an unsteady gait. The alcohol test did not yield a valid result, so a blood sample was requested and his driving license was confiscated," the Prosecution informed.

In addition to losing his license, the German was forced to appear in court and pay a fine of more than 70,000 euros.

However, this is not his first incident with the law: a few years ago, he was found guilty of property damage after attacking his neighbor's garage with a chainsaw.

For this, he was sentenced to a suspended sentence and a fine of 134 thousand euros, which was later reduced to 60 thousand.
