Spanish state saves Barcelona from disaster, rules against La Liga regulations

The Spanish state has saved Barcelona from a financial and sporting disaster, after approving the temporary registration licenses of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

The Supreme Council of Sports, a state-run body, has reviewed the case of two players who were granted temporary licenses by La Liga until the end of last year, giving Barcelona time to adjust their financial parameters. They could have become free agents in January, but Barcelona appealed to the Supreme Council of Sports, arguing that they were being caused serious economic and financial damage.

Although this was against La Liga regulations, the Council decided to extend the temporary contracts of the two players, and today it has given the final decision that they can finish the season with them regularly. This way, Barcelona has enough time to solve its financial problems in the summer and not suffer any economic or sporting damage from the departure of the players as free agents.
