Tragedy in Macedonia/ 51 victims are aged 14-25
The tragic fire that broke out at the "Puls" discotheque in Kocani has left 51 dead and injured 118 people, who are receiving treatment in various hospitals in Macedonia.

The victims are aged between 14 and 25 and come from the cities of Skopje, Shtip, Kocani and Probishtip, announced today the director of the Kocani Hospital, Dr. Kristina Serafimovska.

20 people aged between 18 and 23 have been hospitalized in this hospital. The hospital director stated that the fire call was received at 02:48, and within 30 minutes the hospital was fully mobilized. 70 patients with burns and carbon monoxide poisoning were transported to the hospital, while some of them died during admission.

Due to the large influx of patients, Dr. Serafimovska has contacted hospitals in Eastern Macedonia and asked for help. Ambulances from Skopje and Veles have arrived to help transport patients, while those with more serious injuries have been transferred to hospitals in Stip and Skopje.

Hospitals treating the injured include the Clinic for Plastic Surgery, the Clinic for Anesthesia – KARIL, the Pediatric Intensive Care Clinic, the Clinic for Neurosurgery and the City General Hospital “8 Shtatori” in Skopje, while some have also been transferred to the Clinic for Surgical Diseases “Naum Ohrid”.

Minister of Health, Arben Taravari, said that there are currently sufficient blood reserves, but he will inform if there will be a need for more blood derivatives.

The Red Cross has sent aid to the Kocani hospital, including blankets, beds and wheelchairs for people with disabilities. Red Cross vehicles have been made available to state institutions for the transport of aid.
