NAMES/ Tropoja Municipality employees came into contact with electricity, police confirm: Among the injured is a 21-year-old man

The Tropoja Police have reacted to the tragic incident recorded this Tuesday morning, where four Municipality employees came into contact with electricity. Through an official response, the Police have confirmed that as a result one of the employees has lost his life, while three others are in critical condition.

It is learned that the victim was citizen Muhamet Sylisufaj, 59 years old, while the injured are Albert Dunisha, 40 years old, Ilir Dautaj, 47 years old, and 21-year-old Afrim Aliaj.

Media sources indicate that one of the injured has been urgently flown to Tirana as his condition is more critical.

The serious incident occurred today at around 10:00, where four employees of the Municipality of Tropoja had gone near the village of Bujan to carry out work to distribute and install several lighting poles.

But unfortunately, during the works, they came into contact with electricity. From the preliminary actions, it is suspected that, while placing a pole on the foundation, due to its weight, the 4 workers who were holding it lost their balance and the pole touched the power wires, transmitting electricity to the workers.

From the preliminary actions, it appears that the employees were carrying out the transport and distribution of the poles, according to the work plan, dated 04.09.2026, of the Tropoja Municipality, Directorate of Tourism, Public Services and Transport.

Tropoja/Preliminary information

On 08.09.2026, at around 10:00, we received notification that, near the village of Bujan, on the Dobrave road, 4 employees of the Tropoja Municipality, while carrying out work to distribute and physically place lighting poles on this road, came into contact with electric current.

Preliminary investigations suspect that, while placing a pole on the foundation, due to its weight, the 4 workers who were holding it lost their balance and the pole touched the power wires, transmitting electricity to the workers.

As a result, citizen MS, 59 years old, has passed away, while citizens A. D, 40 years old, ID, 47 years old, and AA, 21 years old, are at Bajram Curri Hospital for medical treatment.

From the preliminary actions, it appears that the employees were carrying out the transport and distribution of the poles, according to the work plan, dated 04.09.2026, of the Tropoja Municipality, Directorate of Tourism, Public Services and Transport.

The investigation team is continuing procedural actions to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
