The Guard rebels against Rama: We protect you with our lives, treat us with dignity

The Union of the Guard of the Republic of Albania reiterates its call for Edi Rama to turn his attention to the personnel who accompany him in every activity on duty, demanding a salary increase.
"... we remind the Finance Sector and responsible structures to urgently submit to the "Ministry of Finance" the salary increase program for the employees of the Detailed Guard," the reaction states.
At this time of the approval of the 2027 Fiscal Package and the promise of an increase in police salaries, the Republican Guard Union says that they cannot wait any longer because they have not been properly evaluated for years.
"What historically has been a meritorious difference of +15,000 lek compared to other security institutions has today been eroded, violating the economic dignity of our employees.
"Why is this increase indisputable? Our profession is always under "red alert": The pressure, readiness and difficulty in our service are maximum at every second," the reaction continues.
The Republican Guard emphasizes that in their profession there should not be and there is never a "first time" when it comes to violating or endangering State Personalities, local or foreign, because their safety is the image of the Albanian State itself.
"Defending the state with your life requires that the state also value you with dignity. We expect reflection and concrete steps from the responsible structures," concludes the Union's call.
