"They are punishing us"/ Fushë Arrëzi against Territorial

Public consultations with citizens began in Fushë-Arrëz regarding the socialist majority's proposal to merge this municipality with Puka. From the first day of the publication of the draft proposal, the residents of Fushë-Arrëz opposed it, arguing that it would make it more difficult for them to receive services.

Also participating in the discussions was Brother Andreas Walterman, who has been serving in Fushë-Arrëz for nearly 20 years. The Franciscan friar says that the villages of Fushë-Arrëz have been massively abandoned due to a lack of attention from the state, while the merger of the municipality would lead to a deterioration of conditions in the city as well.

The citizens of Fushë-Arrëz consider the merger of the municipality as a punishment, as they will have to travel kilometers from the most distant villages to Puka to fulfill administrative needs. The citizens unanimously said that this is not the time for political divisions among them, but they must jointly stand up against this proposal.

A few weeks ago, the heads of the Administrative Units and the elders of all the villages of Fushë-Arrëz held a joint assembly, opposing the proposal that was sent to Parliament for a vote. Several protests have also been held in the town, which is led by a right-wing mayor.
