Intergovernmental Conference, Raouna: Reforms are measured by their effective implementation

Shortly after the conclusion of the 8th Albania-EU Intergovernmental Conference, a press conference was held between the parties, where the opening speech was given by the representative of the Presidency of Cyprus, Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna.
She was accompanied by the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Raouna stated that the EU and the EC support Albania's integration and membership and support further reforms, without affecting the rule of law, the legal system, and the independence of justice, and called for more fight against corruption.
"Commitment and reforms, difficult reforms. The accession process is valuable and commitment to European cooperation has been shown. The Fundamentals chapter group remains at the heart of the negotiations, the adoption of reforms is measured by their effective implementation, consolidated balance, tangible and visible results. The rule of law, the fight against corruption, the protection of fundamental rights, including those of minorities, the rule of law, " said the senior EU official during the conference.
The representative of Cyprus further said that the EU looks forward to the reforms continuing at the speed and pace that they have had up to this milestone.
"The EU looks forward to continuing this set of reforms at the same pace that has brought Albania to this milestone today. The EC remains fully committed to supporting Albania in this process and the Cyprus presidency will also support it with the same commitment and speed," said Raouna.
