He attacked Erion Veliaj's judge, investigation launched for discrimination

The Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination (CPD) has launched an ex-officio investigation against journalist Ilir Yzeiri, following allegations of using language with a derogatory connotation towards a judge of the Special Court of Appeal, Engert Pëllumbi.

According to the official announcement, the Commissioner was alerted to this case through the media and acted after being incited on social media platforms, specifically by "Diaspora for Albania". The investigation will continue according to all legal provisions.

The CPD emphasizes that exceeding freedom of expression through the use of discriminatory language in online media and social networks does not help in the development of a constructive and reasonable debate in society. "Hate speech is any form of expression in public, by any means, of promoting, inciting denigration, hatred or defamation, any concern, insult, negative stereotype, stigmatization or threat against a person or group of persons, as well as any justification of all forms of expression based on grounds of discrimination. (Law No. 10 221/2010)", reads the announcement.

In this context, the CPD calls on publishers and online media managers to respect the code of ethics and the legal framework that protects human dignity.

Journalist Yzeiri also has precedents for this behavior when he attacked American Ambassador Arvizu for the newspaper Shekulli as a "Chinese", and the US embassy issued a declaration severing all relations with this media outlet.
