Why didn't you join the Democratic Party? Agron Shehaj: Sali Berisha knows

Agron Shehaj, the leader of the Opportunity Party, invited this evening to the 'Opinion' studio, gave the reason why he did not join a coalition with the Democratic Party for the May 11 elections.

He said he entered politics to bring change for Albanians, which the DP is not doing.

"I joined the DP, I entered politics in 2017 and while I was thinking, that I had lost my mind, I had a time of reflection. What convinced me, I was watching Ahmetaj on TV who was clearly lying and I said to myself "how can we leave the fate of the country in the hands of a fraudster. I joined the DP to bring change, not just a rotation, not to replace Ahmetaj with a former DP minister and for the Albanian citizens nothing would change. The day I left the DP I was convinced that the DP was not doing enough to make a difference. And this would never bring the DP to power because the Albanian citizens want change and that is why I entered politics.

We must convince the Albanian citizens, we must make an extraordinary contrast with the Socialist Party. We will never win the battle with Edi Rama if we propose something a little better. If the DP says that we will remove Taulant Balla because he is rumored to be involved in crime and replace him with Flamur Noka, the Albanians will not vote for the opposition. Looking at the DP list for a person who does not follow politics could be the list of 2013. It is the same names, the same figures",  said Shehaj.

Shehaj said that based on Sali Berisha's candidate lists, the goal is more to lead the opposition and not to win the elections.

"If there is one person who knows how to win elections, it is Sali Berisha. And if you look at the recent decisions he has made recently, especially with the lists, it is clear that you will not win the elections. That you cannot win the elections with the list he has made. It seems more like he aims to keep the opposition than to win the elections,"  said Shehaj.
