However, according to Globoesporte, the CBF wants to avoid the soap operas of the past and is working on several fronts, with Jorge Jesus being the plan B to take over the Selecao. The aforementioned publication even reports the existence of talks.
According to the Brazilian newspaper, there is talk in the corridors of the CBF that the Portuguese coach, who has a contract with Al Hilal until the end of the Club World Cup, is willing to give up the competition to take over the team.
Ancelotti has always been the main target of Ednaldo Rodrigues, the president of the CBF, but within the structure of that federation there are voices defending the name of Jorge Jesus.
The fact that he knows and understands Brazilian football in detail, from the players to the infrastructure, as well as the fact that the negotiation process for his signing is expected to be less complex than that of Ancelotti, who is linked to Real Madrid, are all factors that play in favor of the Amadora coach.
It is worth remembering that Ancelotti was a step away from the Brazilian national team about two years ago. Ednaldo Rodrigues was willing to wait until June 2024, when the Italian coach's contract with Real Madrid expired, but at the end of 2023, the contract renewal with Los Merengues was announced and the dream ended up falling apart.
Jorge Jesus is also 'tied' to a contract, however, he shows willingness to bring forward the conclusion of the same relationship, a factor that senior CBF officials are taking into account. It will always be necessary, however, to negotiate the conclusion and reach an agreement with the Saudi crest.
Tomorrow could be a decisive day in this dossier. Dorival Júnior, the current coach of Brazil, will meet with Ednaldo Rodrigues and Rodrigo Caetano, the director of national teams of the CBF, to discuss the current situation of the Brazilian team, which has clearly been affected by the defeat suffered in Buenos Aires by Argentina.
