Italy prepares for major revolution in football, asks FIFA for permission to test VAR on request

The Italian Football Federation is preparing to try out a major revolution in football. Italian media have learned that it has asked FIFA for permission to start testing VAR on request. It will initially be experimented with in Serie C, in Serie A for women and in Serie D.
The so-called Football Video Support is the system that brings VAR back into the hands of teams. They too will have the opportunity to see replays of specific events and ask the referee to review a decision or make a decision about something he overlooked and was not signaled by the VAR.
There will be no more than two interceptions per match by teams, but those cases where the referee changes the decision after a request from the bench will not be counted.
According to the regulation, it is foreseen that it will only be used for specific cases, which are: whether or not a goal was scored, whether or not a penalty was awarded, sending off with a direct red card, or even mistaken identity.
The Italian Federation has sent the official letter to FIFA and is awaiting approval of this test, which Italian Serie A clubs have repeatedly requested.
