Tirana in Flames!/ Molotov cocktails and stones thrown at the Prime Minister's Office, 2 ministries set on fire

The opposition protest in Tirana has escalated into violent clashes near the Prime Minister's Office. Protesters have thrown stones and Molotov cocktails at the building, while chants of "Burn, burn!" can be heard. Republican Guard personnel have fired tear gas from the Prime Minister's Office terrace towards the protesters.

The police have intervened with tear gas and water cannons on several fronts, while special forces and members of the "Eagle" unit have been positioned near institutions.

"Eagle and FNSH forces are heading towards the prime minister's office. The situation continues to be chaotic at the prime minister's office. According to information from minutes ago, Prime Minister Edi Rama was in his office, where he convened the government cabinet during the day today and canceled the joint meeting of the Socialist Party parliamentary group with his government. The prime minister's office was armored hours ago. Mr. Rama and the ministers only entered from behind the prime minister's office and not from any of the other entrances to the prime minister's office today. We do not know at this moment whether he is still in the building or not," the field reports.

The clashes have also spread to "Ismail Qemali" Street and along "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard, where protesters have damaged public property and attempted to create barricades with flower pots and concrete blocks.

"There is another front, some citizens are trying to attack from the other side of the Prime Minister's Office on Ismail Qemali Street. Meanwhile, tear gas has covered the entire boulevard, the national martyrs and the protesters, most of them are leaving. Some of them continue to attack the pyramid garden where the water cannon seems to have no way of reaching. The occasional explosions are smoke bombs, Molotov cocktails and fireworks. Tear gas has been thrown by the guards on the Terrace. The guards have also intervened against the protesters."

Earlier, protesters damaged the buildings of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Interior, while fires were also reported at several points on the boulevard. During the clashes, one protester was seen injured, while other citizens provided first aid.
