In the investigation into the drug ring that was uncovered last week, detectives spent Monday listening inside the apartment of one of the suspects.
Four defendants appeared before the council chambers on Tuesday. Two requested an adjournment, the other two remain in custody.
Antwerp federal judicial police detectives, who dismantled an Albanian drug organization last week, revealed everything during their investigation.
After the police learned that a 48-year-old man from Berchem, who used the pseudonym Arben L., would be active as a middleman in the drug environment, the Albanian was observed for a long time by specialized detectives.
During the investigation, a burglary was also committed in an apartment suspected to be used by the organization of the Forties.
FGP installed wiretapping equipment. For months, detectives were able to monitor conversations.
Thus, the image was created that "Arbeni" occupied a key position in the drug world.
"He can be seen as an intermediary in contact with groups from Albania and Latin America for the importation of cocaine, among other things through the port of Antwerp, and with smuggling groups from Europe and even Australia," the prosecutor's office said earlier in a press release.
“ The 40-year-old would coordinate between the various groups responsible for the shipment, delivery and distribution of the drugs. He would offer different ways to smuggle the drugs, could seek help from internal sources, for example, surveillance agents, and would direct the delivery drivers .”

For months, detectives uncovered the contacts of the man from Berchem. This led, among other things, to two seizures totaling 99 kilograms of cocaine, and the extraordinary “capture” of Gerd “The General” Gjinarari, a fugitive murderer.
Last week, eight suspects were finally arrested in the investigation into the “Arben” group. Four of them were detained and appeared in the council chambers in Antwerp on Tuesday.
They confirmed the detention of the two suspects, their lawyers Xavier Potvin and John Maes said.
Lawyers Jan De Man and Francis De Lamper requested a postponement of the boardroom trial of cartoon character 'Arben' and a fourth defendant. They will appear before the council again next week.

Më 7 shtator, kontenieri mbërriti në Pire, Greqi, ku u shkarkua nga LUNA MAERSK. Pas rreth një dite e gjysmë, më 8 shtator, u ngarkua në anijen ushqyese (feeder) K OCEAN / 637N, e cila u nis nga Pireu më 9 shtator në orën 00:13.
Destinacioni final ishte Durrësi. Feeder-i K OCEAN mbërriti në portin e Durrësit më 12 shtator në orën 17:43. Kontenieri u shkarkua më 13 shtator në orën 11:49, ndërsa më 13 shtator në orën 23:00 doli nga terminali. Më 14 shtator, në orën 12:35, u regjistrua hyrja përfundimtare në terminalin e Durrësit.
Nga nisja e anijes së parë nga Itajaí, më 5 gusht në 15:20, deri në mbërritjen e K OCEAN në Durrës më 12 shtator në 17:43, kanë kaluar rreth 38 ditë e 2 orë nga nisja e parë detare deri në mbërritjen në portin shqiptar.
Por kontenieri nuk ka qenë vazhdimisht në det. Gjatë rrugës ka pasur qëndrime dhe operacione në portet e Tanger Med dhe Pireut, ku është shkarkuar dhe ringarkuar në anije të tjera.

Në total, nga dalja nga depoja në Itajaí më 14 korrik deri në hyrjen në terminalin e Durrësit më 14 shtator, udhëtimi i këtij kontenieri zgjati rreth 62 ditë.
