New details have emerged from the assassination recorded this Monday afternoon in the village of Vilëz, in the Zheje administrative unit in Kurbin, where 67-year-old Dod Mamli was executed with a firearm near his apartment.
Sources indicate that preliminary investigations suspect that the 67-year-old was executed for a conflict over property rights, but a blood feud is not ruled out.
Dod Mamli is the father of two brothers, Tom and Enrik Mamli, who were convicted of the murder of Naim Tafa, an event that occurred on September 23, 2015.
How the murder happened in 2015
Enrik Mamli and Tom Mamli, brothers to each other, on September 23, 2015, developed a fierce armed conflict with their cousins Gazmir and Taulant Tafa, in the center of Mamurras, near the train station.
Naim Tafa, who was involved in the fight, died in the armed conflict. Meanwhile, citizens Idriz Tafa and Altin Çoku, who were found, along with many other people, in the train station area, were accidentally injured.
The investigations of the Kurbin Prosecutor's Office showed that the conflict between the Tafa and Mamli families had started some time ago in Sweden, where the Tafa defendants' cousin, Edmond Tafa, physically clashed with the Mamli brothers for weak motives. This conflict has also continued in Albania. About a month before the incident, the injured party in Sweden, Edmond Tafa, and the defendant Gazmir Tafa beat Elton Mamli in Mamurras. After this incident, the Mamli brothers also argued with their cousin, Dorjan Mamli, over the fact that the latter was associating with the Tafajs, who were "their opponents".
But, despite the pressure, Dorjan Mamli refused to sever relations with Tafa and for this reason, on the day of the incident, September 23, 2015, brothers Enrik and Tom Mamli beat their cousin, Dorjan Mamli.
After this episode, the Mamli brothers left in their Range Rover. Dorjan Mamli met with his Tafa cousins, to whom he told about the incident. The latter (Tafa) went out in their own vehicle, a "Benz", in search of the Mamli brothers.
The two sides confronted each other near the train station and initially collided their vehicles directly. After the collision, both sides, armed, got out of their vehicles and shot at each other. The armed conflict occurred at a time when the surrounding area was populated with many people. As a result of the gunfire, citizen Naim Tafa, who was in the company of his Tafa cousins, died on the spot. The expert examination shows that he was killed by the weapon used by Tom Mamli. Citizens Idriz Tafa and Altin Çoku, who happened to be at the scene, were also injured in the gunfire.
