For the second time in two weeks, Greek authorities seized another large shipment of liquid refrigerant. It is about more than 2 tons that three Albanians aged 60, 33 and 29 and a 52-year-old Greek tried to smuggle from Albania. The 60-year-old transported with a truck 200 bottles of freon, with which he had illegally crossed the Greek territory on Thursday morning, through an unprotected crossing of the Greek-Albanian border.
In the area of Follorina, a 52-year-old and a 33-year-old, who were observing the area by car, and the 29-year-old, who was on foot, were waiting for him. However, they were spotted by Kristallopigi (Kapshtica) border guards, who checked the truck and found that the driver did not have import and customs clearance documents for the cargo. The four arrested were taken to the Plimmeliodiki Kastoria Prosecutor's Office accused of violating the Customs Code, while the freon bottles, the truck and the car were confiscated along with 7 mobile phones.
On Wednesday morning, another Albanian who was caught at the border was arrested in the area of Follorina. 201 bottles of freon weighing more than 2.5 tons were seized, without the required documents and transported by truck, in order to be channeled to the Greek market.
