Lawyers boycott new GJKKO regulation, 10 of them fined for absence from courtroom

The GJKKO has begun applying fines to lawyers who are following the boycott imposed by the National Chamber of Advocates.
In the trial against Lulzim Berisha, Emiljano Shullazi and other defendants for the 2005 murders of Vajdin Lama and Klodian Saliu, SPAK was expected to read the indictment.
However, the defendants' defense attorneys remained in the courtroom, in the section reserved for the public, in compliance with the National Bar Association's decision to boycott indefinitely.
The boycott is related to the new GJKKO regulation, which lawyers oppose, describing it as unconstitutional and an obstacle to the practice of the profession.
Due to the lawyers' stay abroad during the process, the panel, headed by Judge Flora Hajredinaj, has fined more than 10 lawyers, elected and appointed by the court.
Each of them was fined 50 thousand lek.
