PDK initiates procedures to amend the Law on the Special Court, submits the draft law to the Parliament

The Democratic Party of Kosovo has submitted to the Assembly of Kosovo the draft law amending and supplementing the Law on Specialized Chambers and the Specialized Prosecutor's Office.
The initiative comes after the conviction of former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi. The PDK has opposed the decision, calling it unjust and unacceptable.
According to PDK, the draft law aims to change the legal framework on which the Specialist Chambers and the Specialist Prosecutor's Office operate.
The party emphasizes that the initiative is based on the Constitution of Kosovo, Amendment No. 24, relevant international agreements and Judgment KO26/15 of the Constitutional Court.
PDK requests that the Assembly review the initiative and evaluate the legal provisions that regulate the functioning of the Specialized Chambers, emphasizing the importance of respecting the Constitution, the laws of Kosovo, and the standards of a fair judicial process.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo declares that it will continue to pursue democratic, institutional and legal avenues to challenge decisions against former KLA leaders and on issues related to the functioning of the Specialized Chambers.
