Supreme Court rules in Trump's favor, blocks federal judge's order to return wrongly deported person

The Supreme Court temporarily halted a midnight deadline set by a lower judge for the return of a Salvadoran citizen wrongly deported to El Salvador, agreeing to a request from the Trump administration to give both sides more time to present their arguments.
Chief Justice John Roberts issued a separate “administrative stay,” a move that will extend the deadline until the court issues a more complete ruling, possibly within days. Roberts handles emergency cases that arise from the federal appeals court in Richmond, Virginia.
The decision to temporarily suspend the case, which is relatively common when the court faces a fast deadline, means that Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran citizen deported on March 15, will remain in the notorious prison in El Salvador for the time being.
