The Tax Administration has published new data on income from online accommodation platforms, indicating strong growth of this market in Albania.

According to data for 2024, over 8,400 individuals and businesses have offered accommodation through Airbnb, generating around 3.8 billion lek in revenue, or nearly 40 million euros. Commissions paid to the platform alone amount to around 167.5 million lek.

In parallel, the Booking platform also continues to have a high volume of activity. For the period January-September 2025, revenue from reservations reached around 80.1 million euros, while over 17 thousand individuals and entities were active in this market. Commissions for the platform are estimated at around 12.8 million euros.

In this context, the Tax Administration emphasizes that it has detailed data on reservations and profits made through these platforms and calls on all income beneficiaries to declare them in the Annual Personal Income Declaration, DIVA 2025.

The deadline for declaration is March 31, 2026, while failure to declare is considered a violation of the law and is accompanied by penalties.

Authorities require individuals and businesses to verify the consistency of their declarations with the platforms' data, to avoid controls and punitive measures.
