"More informal employment, but the market is formalizing" - IHP: 3952

Despite the fact that last year the State Labor Inspectorate conducted 12% fewer inspections compared to 2023, the number of employees without contracts remained high.

Official data shows that 3,952 employees without contracts were identified, an increase of 37% compared to the previous year.

According to the annual report of the State Labor Inspectorate, 2,600 informal workers were identified during inspections, or 32% more than the previous year.

For these employees, the employment relationship was formalized through legal interventions by labor inspectors. As a result, their formalization brought an additional contribution of 28.5 million lek per month to the social and health insurance scheme.

For the most serious, flagrant or repeated violations, the Inspectorate imposed 210 fines, with a total value of 53.79 million lek.

This represents a 42% increase in the number of fines and a 25% increase in their value, compared to the previous year.
