"A heavy chapter for the history of Kosovo", reacts former Deputy Prime Minister Hoxhaj: Our war was clean and just

The Hague Specialist Chambers have today issued a shameful decision, sentencing four former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army to a total of 81 years in prison, evoking strong reactions and pain in their families and throughout the Albanian people.
Leaving the courtroom, former Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj told the media that the liberators have been, are and will remain innocent in the history of Kosovo and the Albanian people.
"They were innocent and are innocent and will remain so. What happened today is the darkest day the Albanian people have had since independence and liberation."
"The Liberation Army has fought a clean and just war and no one judges our history, because we were on the verge of extermination," said Enver Hoxhaj.
The head of the KLA Veterans, Hysni Gucati, also expressed strong disagreement with today's decision of the Specialist Chambers. "Today this court managed to satisfy Russia and Serbia," he said, looking very burdened.
The Hague Specialized Chambers have sentenced the president of Kosovo and one of the main leaders of the Liberation Army to 25 years in prison, as well as Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.
Judge Smith cited many mitigating factors for Hashim Thaçi, including his termination as President of Kosovo, voluntary surrender, cooperation with justice, and the dismissal of the main charges, but the sentence he imposed did not reflect any of them.
There were also mitigating factors for the other three liberators, but as Judge Smith said, they were given inferior weight.
