Heated campaign in Kosovo, accusations, insults and violence on the eve of June 7th

The election campaign in Kosovo officially begins on May 28, but parties have already begun rallies and meetings across the country. Accusations against each other, insults and even violence are the first signals that the campaign is expected to be more aggressive than the one for the elections in December last year.
Analyst Adrian Zeqiri said: “These are the fourth elections being organized within a period of 13-14 months. […] Including institutional blockades, the unwillingness to reach a smaller political consensus, this has caused the language in this campaign to be a little harsher.”
Former President Vjosa Osmani has made a series of accusations against Prime Minister Albin Kurti for his secret meetings with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
Meanwhile, in Skenderaj, the Deputy Minister of Finance, a candidate for MP from Vetëvendosje, was attacked by representatives of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, directly accusing the mayor of this municipality, Sami Lushtaku.
According to analysts, this has caused political programs that have not yet been presented to not receive the due importance.
"The political programs that political parties traditionally compete with are devalued in this debate about who is right and who is wrong," says analyst Zeqiri.
Another concern arises with social media where parties accuse each other of attacking and degrading the language.
"Social networks are where those accusations, counter-accusations, those short, bombastic statements are made, which then the social media algorithms amplify and achieve their effect on the voter," says analyst Zeqiri.
Recently, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Glauk Konjufca, was forced to apologize after, according to him, he was misunderstood when he spoke about hairdressers at a meeting in Ferizaj as it was taken as a reference to former President Vjosa Osmani.
