The agreement for the president, Kurti: It stands, despite the opposition of 6 LDK MPs

The leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, also the acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that the agreement for the president with the Democratic League of Kosovo stands, even after six LDK MPs came out against the nomination of Bekim Sejdiu for president.
After the meeting of the LVV Parliamentary Group, Kurti said that all 53 MPs supported the agreement with the LDK, made public the day before.
However, the announcement by LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku that six of his MPs do not support Sejdiu, according to Kurti, requires new meetings.
"I need to meet again with Abdixhiku and the LVV leadership because the situation has changed compared to the meeting we had when we had 80 MPs," he told reporters.
Commenting on the decision of the six LDK MPs, Kurti accused them of intending to trigger new elections – which would be the fourth parliamentary elections by February 2025.
"In my strong conviction and that of the deputies, we consider this behavior of these six deputies irresponsible, harmful, absurd....it seems that there is a desire to go to the elections."
He said that they could not repeat the elections indefinitely, emphasizing that "the result will not change."
According to Kurti, the opposition of LDK MPs has less to do with Sejdiu's candidacy and more to do with the government he leads.
The LVV Parliamentary Group meeting was held shortly after Abdixhiku concluded the meeting with the LDK Parliamentary Group.
"With great regret for the people of Kosovo and the fate of the Republic, six LDK MPs have decided not to respect the LDK's decision, specifically Avdullah Hoti, Hykmete Bajrami, Arben Gashi, Armend Zemaj, Kujtim Shala and Janina Ymeri, have declared that they will not vote for the proposed candidate," Abdixhiku said in a press conference.
He added that this is causing "irreparable damage to the entire process" and "inevitably and unnecessarily, by missing an extraordinary opportunity for Kosovo, they are sending the country to elections."
Abdixhiku said that he only has 12 deputies available and will go to the hall with them when the vote for president is held, adding that efforts will be made until the end to secure the numbers for the president.
"I, along with 12 MPs, will be the 12th in the hall when the vote is taken. We will make efforts until the last moment," he said.
Abdixhiku said he apologizes to the people of Kosovo, that "with all our good will, we are not managing to provide stability due to a perverted policy."

Abdixhiku tha se do të merren masa ndaj gjashtë deputetëve, por nuk tregoi se cilat do të jenë ato.
"Do të merremi me vendime, por kjo s'është tema. Por, gjithsesi, secili njeri që s'e respekton vendimet e kryesisë dhe të organeve, më së paku duhet të ndihet përfaqësues i LDK-së. Nëse asgjë tjetër, do të duhej ta dorëzonim mandatin e deputetit", tha ai.
Abdixhiku tha se Bekim Sejdiu do të ofronte balancë institucionale. Ai tha se refuzimi për ta mbështetur këtë kandidaturë, do të jetë “me pasoja edhe për rezultatet e ardhshme zgjedhore”.
Megjithatë, akuzave të Abdixhikut, iu kundërpërgjigjën deputetët që dolën kundër vendimit për nominimin e Sejdiut.
Deputetja e zgjedhur e LDK-së, Hykmete Bajrami, tha se ajo është zgjedhur jo për të qenë numër në Kuvend, “e as për t’ia zgjatur pushtetin Albin Kurtit”.
“Për mua është e papranueshme që sot, në emër të zgjidhjes së krizës institucionale, të bëhemi pjesë e një marrëveshjeje që ia zgjat pushtetin e koncentruar Albin Kurtit”, shkroi ajo, duke shtuar se nuk dëshiron zgjedhje të reja, por nuk mund të votojë pro një marrëveshjeje që prezantohet si "fakt i kryer".
Një ditë më parë, deputeti i LDK-së, Avdullah Hoti, po ashtu publikisht tha se është kundër Sejdiut, duke thënë se ai nuk pasqyron interesat parimore dhe politike të LDK-së.
Ndërkaq, pas mbledhjes të deputetëve të LDK-së, Hoti u shpreh qartë se nuk do të qëndrojë në sallë për të bërë kuroumin për votimin për president.
Ndërkaq, deputetja tjetër që ka dalë kundër Sejdiut, Janina Ymeri tha se me gjithë “pasojat për pozitën time brenda partisë” ka vendosur që të mos votojë për “zgjatjen e pushtetit” të Kurtit.
“Kandidati për president, në anën tjetër, nuk kishte as profil e as pavarësi që të sillte balancë pushteti dhe forcë ndaj kapjes nga Vetëvendosja”, shkroi ajo në rrjetet sociale.
Kujtim Shala tha se nuk ka votë për Sejdiun pasi "gjithmonë" është "kundër bashkëpunimit me Albin Kurtin".
Këto zhvillime vijnë teksa, Lëvizja Vetëvendosje mbrëmjen e sotme po mban mbledhjen e Grupit Parlamentar për të diskutuar për çështjen e presidentit.

In a statement, the LDK said that Sejdiu's nomination for chairmanship was supported "with complete unanimity."
"The Presidency calls on the deputies of the LDK Parliamentary Group to, during the voting process, act in accordance with the authorizations of the party's Assembly, the decision of the Presidency and the responsibility they bear as representatives of the Democratic League of Kosovo," the statement said after the LDK Presidency meeting.
According to the decisions of the LDK Party Assembly, held at the end of July, it was stated that all members, officials, elected officials and representatives of the LDK are "obliged to respect and implement the decisions approved by the competent bodies" of the party.
It also stated that party bodies must ensure that decisions are implemented and, when necessary, "take statutory measures against violators."
The LDK said that Sejdiu's nomination represents "the official and institutional position of the LDK" and was taken in accordance with the mandate given by the LDK Assembly.
The presentation of Bekim Sejdiu as a presidential candidate by LVV and LDK took place on August 31, after several weeks of negotiations between the two parties.
For his election as president, the presence of at least 80 deputies in the Assembly hall, which has a total of 120 seats, is required.
Albin Kurti's LVV won 53 seats in the June elections and, together with the deputies of non-majority communities, has at least 61 votes, sufficient to constitute the Assembly and form the new Government.
With the 12 votes - out of 18 MPs that LDK has - that Abdixhiku said he has, the threshold of 80 votes for the election of the president is not reached.
The other two Albanian parties, the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Alliance, have declared that they do not have a vote for the candidacy presented by LVV and LDK./REL
